This lesson was developed with the Grade Level Expectations for 1st grade in mind from the Louisiana Department of Education Content Standards.

This webquest helps students learn the background of the American flag and the reasons for the characteristics that make up the flag. I believe that the flag is very important considering almost everywhere we go, even to a baseball game, there is a flag. I believe that the students show know why the flag is so important to the United States of America.

Learners
This lesson is designed for first graders. It is rooted in the roles of a citizen- Civics Grade Level Expectations.

Students should be familiar with the mouse on the computer. They will need to click on certain things to find the information needed. They should also know how to write and answer questions. They should also know how to use the program, Microsoft Word, to make the flag to finish their projects.

This lesson forces the student to be organized in with the content that they find. The students must also be able to apply knowledge learned to make a final product.
